School is Out!

We finished out our co-op year

with a great day of presentations!

We saw the K-2 grades sing a song about the United States Presidents. What else do you need to say to that? You know it was cute!

The 3-5 grade showed us what the earth was like from volcanos to the stars. They worked hard on projects that made a lasting impression on their young minds.

Middle school made quite a mess with an egg drop - though some eggs actually did survive. They each made toothpick bridges - some of which held around 15 pounds.
The science presentations were excellent as they showed us how they found a family through watching water currents, knowing regional animals, climates around the world and locations.

High school showed off impressive knowledge in Forensics with their end of school projects. Doll House murders were on order here.

Elaborate scenarios were orchestrated. Storyboards of cookie thieving, wanted posters of Chewbacca and missing posters of Captain America all showed great creativity.

The videos were informative and well put together, despite the technical difficulties. They could have careers in the field!

Then we were serenaded by the Spanish class. It was great to hear what they had learned this year - The Itsy Bitsy Spider was quite a hit.

Finally, we made it to the close of our day (all before lunch, I might add) and we honored the 8th graders. As they move into the final leg of their school career, it's nice to recognize the work they have put in so far and wish them well on the final four years.

At the end, we all enjoyed a picnic at the park. The day was beautiful , the kids were messy and tired, and the fellowship fantastic!

Later, the kids did a thought-provoking and poignant performance of The Lottery, a play adaptation of Shirley Jackson's short story. As I realized how stuck we can get in our "traditions" and becoming unwilling to change,I was close to tears as the play ended
Great job to the kids and to the moms who really made it happen!

Upcoming Theater Performances

Have you ever wondered what would happen if all the fairy book stories and nursery rhymes were all mashed together to make one hilarious adventure? "Story Stew" will help revive your imagination! Alison Agnew and Mara Angelo have worked hard with the 5th-9th grade kids to create a theatrical event the entire family can enjoy.

In "My Backyard", watch the PK-4th graders discover the amazing wonders that can be found in their friends' backyards. Kara Hartman has worked tirelessly to help you discover ladybugs, pillbugs, hummingbirds and more. You will even see a famous sleuth and his trusty sidekick.

The date is set for Friday, May 9th. The time and place are TBA. You won't want to miss this!
